Ride/Race Rules
We'll keep it as simple as possible.
- The ride timing is recorded using Strava, you must have your own account.
- We will give you a Strava group name to join a day or two before the race starts, If you don't join the group we won't see your segment times.
- You download the GPX navigation files we send you.
- We assume you are proficient at using your navigation device with a GPX prepared file.
- Most of the GPS units store Strava Segments and warn you when you are approaching one. You will need to manage this on your own GPS device, there won't be any signage out there.
- If you are not recorded on the Strava segment, we will assume you navigated incorrectly and therefore won't qualify for the podium. Don't worry you had a fun ride, that's what counts.
- Segment types are designed to favour different skills and level the playing field, they are the following:
- A gravel climb
- A tar time trial
- A gravel endurance section, normally rolling hills
- A technical section with single or jeep track.
- There will be a minimum of 2 segments per day.
- Strava rides must be downloaded as soon as possible after each day for processing.
- We have a comparative algorithm to calculate your segment score.
- Scores will be added for each segment, your total will dictate your overall position.
- You can take your time with your mates between segments but you will only qualify if you have ridden the whole route each day.
- Certain days will have cut-off times imposed for logistical reasons.
- Obey all traffic laws
- You have to ride a human only powered bicycle to compete in the segments. E-Bikes will be coming along on tour but must register themselves as an e-bike on Strava to avoid confusion.
- You need to support yourself mechanically, we do however provide sweep/medic vehicles and water-points that carry tools.
